The School Day

The school operates 5 days a week and teaches reading, writing and arithmetic following the kenyan pre-primary syllabus. We aim for children to enter a local state run primary school in two years (UK equivalent of UK junior school). A typical day starts 7.30am with singing and prayers and we teach simple bible stories before classes start.

The school was started in 2000 by Jane Thomas a Kenyan teacher and social worker, who helped at the Red Cross feeding station and wanted to do more for the children. It started with a dozen pupils and has grown over the years. It now helps 70 children and by 2013 100 children.
