James

The Children

July 2012 James scored exceptionally well (as expected) and we are now helping him and another pupil in their education at the next stage. The school is working and 2 of the first group of 12 have made it through to the next stage. Others will continue with vocational training.

February 2012 we are pleased to report that James is now studying at a state school for his GCSE's. He is one of the first to come right through from mahali to the state senior school.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

James is a former pupil who has nearly completed the 8 years of school following his time at Mahali pa Watoto.

Jonathan Price a visitor to the school writes ...... February 2011

"We travelled 1 mile into Dagoretti slum along dusty, bumpy tracks to Gitiba Primary School - a Kenyan state primary school to find him.

Lucy - the headteacher at Mahali pa Watoto - had hoped that we might meet some of the children who had graduated from Mahali in December 2010, but unfortunately they had gone for the day.

Happily though we met James - one of the original pupils at Mahali from 9 years ago - now aged 14 in "Standard Eight" - the last year of primary school. His teacher told us he is one of the top in the school, scoring almost perfect marks in recent tests.

Lucy was very happy and proud to meet him again."
